We have some great news to pass along! As you saw in our email this past Saturday, no delegate to our convention will be denied the right to vote by any campaign or committee.
Here is an excerpt from the Temporary Credentials Chairman’s email to affected delegates which came after our alert to you:
“This email is to clarify my previous communication regarding protests filed against your certification as a Delegate to the Sixth District Convention.Previously I wrote:“In other words, you will simply need to sign a renunciation statement (see attached) at check-in at the Convention to be fully credentialed. Upon approval of the Credentials Committee Report by the Convention body you will be issued your credentials. The protest will be over and you will be a Delegate entitled to vote on all business/nominations/elections properly before the Convention.”This statement is accurate as it pertains to the business for which the Convention has been called, but not as it applies to the first question that will come before the assembled delegates next Saturday: the election of a temporary chairman and temporary secretary. In actuality all delegates, including you, will be allowed to vote in the temporary officers’ races…”
This confusion has finally ended, right?
Unfortunately not, but there is something you can do about it Saturday.
To ensure there is no more confusion, this convention runs smoothly, and NOBODY is unfairly denied the right to vote at this Convention… we are urging ALL DELEGATES to vote for Jack Wilson for Temporary Chair to start the Convention.
He ran the 2016 State Convention, held in the exact same location as this convention! Everyone agrees he did a fantastic job there, and we know he will do a fantastic job on Saturday too.
The reason I am pushing Jack Wilson for Temporary Chair is the same reason I fought for your right as a delegate to choose a MAJORITY Voting Rule, and why I have fought for ending unrecorded voice votes in Richmond: Transparency.
When some of my colleagues in Richmond on both sides of the aisle used procedural rules to hide their votes from their constituents, I fought to change the House rules to being an end to that unfair practice.
With your help on Saturday, we will elect a Temporary Chair in Jack Wilson who will be above all else fair and even handed.
And with your vote on Saturday, I will take my fight for transparency and our shared conservative Values to Washington!
